Interests

There is an overwhelming tendency for people to identify themselves with a particular career or skill set. The reality of time constraints make this identification tempting, but it has never sat well with me philosophically. I have an extremely broad range of interests, and have continually found that they augment each other in subtle ways. Elimination of any of these interests in favor of simplicity seems to me akin to donning blinders to see the road in front of you more clearly. The beauty of the scenery along the way vanishes with the attempt to minimize distraction.
